Live Wire is an embodied ritual theatre investigation, grounded in the movement maps of 5Rhythms, devoted to the shapeshifting nature of physical art, and guided by the vision of Lorca Simons and Gabrielle Roth. Designed to inspire, refresh, re-set and connect.
 Our time will include movement, creative excavations, collective truth-telling and beauty-making.

What if our willingness to source and celebrate beauty makes more beauty possible? What if any act of kindness, kissing a child’s scraped knee, smiling at a stranger, drinking in the scent of a flower, plants the seeds for more beauty and love to bloom in the world? Let’s attend to the soil of our lives, inner and outer, to accumulate and cultivate the seeds of simple beauty.

In this workshop, we will dance with our ancestry which live in our heart, soul, collective memory, and DNA. We will call on the wisdom and medicine of our lineage, the power of ancestral lands, and the spirit of the animal clans to guide us on our journey. 

The healing path has a trajectory. Gabrielle Roth called this, The Path of The Wounded Healer. It is here that we look closely at our healing process. We mark both where we are and where we want to be. We dance through the five stages of healing in relationship to being the victim, the survivor, the healer, the transformer, and eventually the one who rests in compassionate service.

We all contain aspects, expressions, and energies that shine bright: parts that are welcome and rewarded during daylight hours. And we all contain aspects, expressions, and energies that are deeper and more mysterious: parts which are equally intelligent, vibrant, and necessary to our wholeness. We also have aspects and behaviours that we disown. Places we don't like to go. Parts that we feel we can't afford to acknowledge, within ourselves or in the world around us. These, we push into the shadows. In this weekend workshop, we will follow the maps of the 5Rhythms to explore and embody all of these realms, walking well-lit trails, exploring deeper parts of the forest, breathing life into forgotten places, and braiding the threads that make us whole.

By understanding, naming and moving through money blind spots that no longer serve us, we will re-wire new somatic survival habits. These are wild times. We’re not just on the edge, we’re off the edge and falling. We need to change, radically, and it’s happening. There’s a shift in consciousness taking place that is profound, far reaching, beyond any one of us, and involving all of us. There’s a mighty river bursting it’s banks everywhere, and it’s rushing through each one of us. We are being called, cajoled and catapulted into new ways of being that require us to let go of our fixed ideas and patterns, to expand beyond what we thought possible and allow more energy to flow through us than ever before.

In the same way that the 5Rhythms are a part of us and live everywhere around us, we are made of the 5 Elements and they are present in our everyday lives. In this workshop, we will use the images, symbolism and vocabulary of the Elements to enter into the landscape of the 5Rhythms. We will find Earth for our Flowing, learn about our Staccato through Fire, dive into our Chaos through Water, lighten up our Lyrical through Air, and empty our Stillness through Ether. We will invite the Elements into our space and our dance, one by one, expanding our perspective of the Rhythms, and offering our bodies new creative ways to move and deepen our practice.

Our vulnerability is one of our greatest strengths. In this workshop we will explore where we are strong and where we are vulnerable; exercising parts of ourselves that need strengthening, and coming into balance. As we expand our capacity to hold all that we experience, we learn how to also be more present with what appears in those we love.
